Tour de Camden

What started out as a training ride for the Ironman
ended up being the end to this year's Ironman.
While biking in Sumter County, during the Tour de Camden
Michael had an accident.
He doesn't remember anything
but we think he hit something in the rode while
doing about 30 MPH, downhill.
He landed on his head and left shoulder.
Cracked the back of his helmet, shredded his jacket,
had his Under Armor shirt cut off, but he wouldn't let
the EMT's cut off his favorite 7Up biking jersey!
He is missing quite a bit of skin, especially his hip and knees.
Worse of all he has a broken rib and collar bone.
His collar bone was shattered into five pieces.
We went to the Orthopedist Monday morning
and he had surgery Thurdsday, October 21
(Christi's Birthday!)
Before the surgery

JUST before the surgery!

After the surgery.

A titanium plate and nine screws later!

His shoulder will mend (eventually)
but the broken heart over not being able
to participate in the Ironman after all the
intense training all year will take a little longer to mend!
We have had so much outpouring of love from
our friends and family. We are so grateful
to everyone for the concern and prayers on Michael's behalf.
We are thankful for a loving Heavenly Father
who watched over Michael that day and allowed
his injuries not to be any worse than they are.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEVIN

October 10 was Kevin's birthday.
We are so happy that Kevin is in our family.
He's a great dad and husband.

No special occasion to post this picture....
I just thought it was cute!
Don't I have the best looking grandchildren you have ever seen??

Happy Birthday Hagin

I'm a little behind on my posting
but I hope Hagin knows how much
I love him!
September 11 was Hagin's 7th birthday.
We were in Williamsburg, Virginia for Big Daddy's
half ironman so we treated Hagin to
a stay at the Great Wolf Lodge for his
birthday gift. He said he had a great time!
Hagin, we love you so much
and are so thankful that you joined our family.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HAGI-POOH!

Biking Across South Carolina

This past weekend, August 13 & 14
Michael and Mike Nininger rode
their bikes from the SC/GA line to the coast.
All the way across the state in two days!
About 235 miles......
Yep, they're crazy!!
I was so glad to see them come riding in
Saturday afternoon. When Michael is riding,
I am constantly worrying and praying for his safety.
Prayers are answered!
He had a blast!
Now he's wondering what to do next!
I guess Ironman Florida in November will just have to do!
I love you babe. You're the best!

Hilton Head 2010

July 17 Michael and I headed to Hilton Head Island for our
two week vacation. Every year, the second week,
we have all the kids come down for the week.
But not this year.
We are taking the whole family to
Disney World
in November so we had two weeks for just us!
However, some of the kids came down for a couple
of days the second week. It was fun to have some company!

Girlfriends Catering

June 26, 2010, Libbi actually put all her trust in her girlfriends to
cater her son, Peter's, wedding reception.
Lauralan, Brenda and I along with our little girlfriends,
Christi, Mary Beth and Jessica did a bang up job!
We had to carry everything up to Gastonia, NC so it
was a real challenge but it went off without a hitch!
When we arrived at the hotel, this is what we found in our room.
Sweet LaNelle had worked her fingers to the bone to make us
all beautiful aprons complete with
"Girlfriends Catering" embroidered on them!

Christi, Me, Mary Beth, Brenda, Lauralan and Jessica
Thank you girls for all of your hard work!
You were all fabulous and lots of fun!!

Rock N Rollman Half

June 5, 2010 the gang ventured to Macon, Georgia for Michael to participate in the
Rock N Rollman Half Ironman.
Of course, he was awesome!
It wasn't as hot as the last time we were there so we were all thrilled!
Way to go babe. We love cheering for you!

Roanoke 10K

May 28, 2010 Michael, Mary Beth, Kevin, Jackson, Maizeigh, Christi, Tim, Owen, Emma and I went to Virginia to visit Joe and Chelsea. Joe was performing in Southern Virginia University's spring production of Annie Get Your Gun. The musical was terrific but Joe was absolutely fabulous! It is such fun to watch my children perform!
On Saturday we drove over to Roanoke for a 10K race. It was Joe and Chelsea's first 10K. They did an awesome job! Michael ran about 10 miles before the race started then hurried to the starting line to run the race. Mary Beth ran a great race and finished really strong! It was so fun being with Joe and Chelsea!
