Tri the Parks

Michael and Team Whetstone ventured this past weekend to the booming metropolis of Elberton, Georgia! This was an international distance triathlon. We had the whole family together with the exception of Joe, Chelsea and Jessica. What a cheering section!

Awesome job!

There were rules and variables to consider so I hope that all of you know that we have been as fair as possible in judging the winners. Michael and I really wanted to give the winners something that would be meaningful. So back in March we decided that we would send the winning couple to October's General Conference in Salt Lake City! We hope that this will be something that they will always remember. When we announced to the family who the winners were, we found out that Kevin has never visited Salt Lake City other than getting off of a plane and going straight to the MTC. So I hope that this will be a real treat for him!

Kenny and Jessica reached their individual goals and will each receive a weekend away (within driving distance!) This was an awesome acheivement! Way to Go!!

We are so proud of all of our children for working so hard and accomplishing so much.

From March 25 to July 25 our family accomplished the following:

Lost over 91 pounds

Logged over 200 hours of aerobic/weight training/ exercise

Ran over 300 miles

Biked over 1500 miles

WOW!!!!

If you included all of Michael's running and swimming miles and hours, it would be even more remarkable!

Watermelon Boy

Owen came to visit last night just as Big Daddy was cutting into a watermelon. Umm, I think we found something he loves! He couldn't seem to eat it fast enough and this was right after he ate supper!

Happy Birthday Lauralan!

Well, well, well, Lauralan turned 40 what? Let's just say she is still in her "early" 40's! She has got to be the most fun loving, compassionate, understanding, opinionated, resourceful, thrifty, bargain-hunting woman I know! We teased her for years about the need to name her daughter Walmarta Clearensa!!

If you know me at all, you know that I absolutely love my girlfriends! These ladies are fine, kind, refined, otherwise defined, outstanding young southern belles! They make me laugh, cry, want to hug them and pull their hair out all at the same time!!

We treated Lauralan to a mini trip to Hilton Head for her birthday. With Pamelia living so close, she was able to meet us there. This really wasn't a "planned girlfriend trip" but it sure was great being together.

Aren't we something in our Salty Dog T's?! (You know I love you dearly, Libbi, if I would not only allow you to wear that eye-hurting Clemson orange shirt but I actually bought it for you!!!)
