Chelsea's South Carolina Shower

Saturday June 4 my bestest friend and her fabulous daughters hosted a baby shower for Chelsea. It was an amazing party with fabulous food and wonderful guests. Libbi is always the perfect "Southern" hostess. Her grandma would be proud!

Chelsea received so many wonderful gifts which will help make the arrival of Little Miss Maggie easier. Thanks so much to everyone! We absolutely can hardly wait to see this sweet little baby! Hurry up Chelsea! We are getting impatient!

Fresh Green Beans Anyone?

Michael and I just picked these out of our garden. We picked about four gallons. How many green beans can two people eat?? I guess I need to pull out the canner!!

We'll miss you , old tree!

We have had some crazy storms lately. Today the wind began to blow and the sky got dark.
The next thing I knew, SNAP, our poor tree split right down the middle. Luckily, it fell across our front yard. Not in the street, not on a car and not on the teenage boy who was walking down the street! This was a bradford pear tree that Michael and I had planted 25 years ago. It was only a twig then.

I called our trusty Elders Quorum president who just happens to be one of my wonderful son-in-laws. He rallied the troops and within an hour had the tree out of my yard and on the side of the road.

Kids Triathlon 2011

Can I just say my grandchildren are AWESOME!!

Today was the kids triathlon at Golden Hill Country Club.

Hunter, Peyton, Hagin, Olivia, Jackson and Owen participated!

Also, our good friend Connor Sheridan.

They all did a fabulous job and I am SO extremely proud of them!

Most kids now days are only excercising their thumbs playing video games.

Tri Latta 2011

Friday we took off to Charlotte, NC, well, actually, Huntersville, for Michael to participate in the Tri Latta Triathlon on Saturday, June 11. Christi, Owen, Emma, Mary Beth, Kevin, Jackson, Maizeigh and Norah joined us for a great weekend. We ate at a local Italian restaurant Friday night which was really good food! We were not excited about the 6:30 am start on Saturday because that meant leaving the hotel at 5:30! Yucko!! However, this did leave most of the day Saturday for other adventures!

Owen and Maizeigh wanted to get body marked too.

(This means getting your age put on your calf like Big Daddy)

He's usually pretty dang sweaty!!

Michael had a great event.

He finished in the top half of his age group which made him very happy!!

For our adventure we went to Discovery Place in Charlotte. Christi was the only one who had ever been there before. It was so cool. I really loved that the children could touch things! Not just look at them! I think they thought that was pretty cool too!

Time Just Doesn't Stand Still For Anyone

This will sound just like the opening sentence of nearly all my journal entries,

"Well, it has been a long time since I've written"....

Michael's bike accident on October 16 pretty much put a stop to everything except taking care of him. I have let my blog go by the wayside and felt like I just could never get caught up. Mary Beth recently had my blog put in book form for me and I "absolutely adore" it!! (This was said in "It Takes Two" fashion for all of you movie lovers out there) I don't have pictures for everything that has happened over the last 7 months but I thought I would at least do a small recap of events for posterity's sake.

Please, please don't be offended if I have left out something important, say like your birthday! My poor old brain isn't what it used to be!

Well, here goes...................

First off was Christi's birthday - October 21

(which was also Michael's surgery day)

Michael was supposed to be participating in the Florida Ironman on November 6 but that didn't happen. Instead, Team Whetstone went down anyway to support Mike Nininger!

Yes, this was two weeks after surgery and Yes, this is Michael signing up for the Florida Ironman 2011!! Guts!!

Off to Disney World! November 7 - 13

The family had a great time! It was Tim's birthday - November 12 - So we celebrated at the Spirit of Aloha since he served his mission in Hawaii
